Smoky Hill Art Exhibition

The 53rd Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition opened as the anchor of the Hays Arts Council Spring Art Walk on Saturday, April 30. This annual community celebration of the arts featured visual & performing arts at locations in Downtown Hays and at Fort Hays State University.  Link below for the Smoky Hill Art Exhibition of Works, Juror's Statement, and images from the opening and  2022 Spring Art Walk.

Creative Writing Contest

The 2022 Creative Writing Awards Ceremony & Reception was held on Sunday, May 1 in the FHSU Memorial Union Ballroom.  This annual contest in prose & poetry is open to Ellis County students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. FIVE STATE PHOTOGRAPHY competition

The 2021-2022 Five State Photography Competition received 446 entered works, of which 150 were selected for exhibition by juror Mike Sinclair from artists in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado. Link below for gallery images, juror's statement, and album of all exhibited photographs

26th Annual Famous Figures

This performing arts project for Ellis County 5th grade students promotes research skills, awareness & appreciation of a positive role model, thinking & writing in a creative manner, and developing acting and public speaking skills

The 1976 Swiss documentary on Hays, Kansas is now available for viewing, as is the 2015 sequel produced by one of the original filmmakers
