Art Demonstrations

Blacksmithing with Dan Schluckebier

Dan's blacksmithing demonstration will give participants a chance to see what goes into shaping hot metal. Start by heating a piece of steel in the forge and then demonstrate some of the basic techniques, such as hammering, bending, and twisting the metal. Learn about the tools and equipment, as well as some of the safety involved, while showing how the metal changes as it is worked. The main goal is to give people a chance to see blacksmithing up close and get a feel for how much can be done with a simple piece of steel, a hammer, and some heat.
